The Election Commission (EC) of Andhra Pradesh, on the 18th of May, announced re elections in 2 more constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

Previously, the EC announced re elections in 5 polling centres of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.

P.S. Pradyumna, the District Election Officer (DEC) of Chandragiri, on the 18th of May, announced re polling after the demands of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

According to sources, Pradyumna, along with other officials, reviewed the CCTV footage of the polling, following which, the decision was taken.

The EC of Andhra Pradesh said, due to irregularities at these 7 polling stations, the EC decided to conduct the re elections.

The officials arranged tight security at the polling centres. Approximately 250 police personnel were deployed for security under the supervision of  Superintendent of Police (SP) and Director Superintendent of Police (DSP.)

The re elections at all the 7 polling centres will be held on the 19th of May, the day on which the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held.

The major parties which contested the AP Lok Sabha elections were the TDP, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the JanaSena Party.

The results of the Lok Sabha elections of Andhra Pradesh will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
