All the wine, toddy shops, bars and clubs were closed in six erstwhile districts of Telangana.  The closure was announced in the view of the Graduates’ Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections.

The wine shops were closed at 4:00 P.M., of the 12th of March and would be reopened at 4:00 P.M., on the 14th of March.

The MLC elections are schedulled to be held in six districts — Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam where the shops will remain closed.

The election campaign for the Graduates’ MLC election concluded today following which the wine shops were closed. The elections for Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad and Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal graduates’ constituency will be held on March 14.

Wine shops will also be closed on the 17th of March in the areas where the counting of votes will take place.

political parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) are gearing up to secure the two seats of state Legislative Council.

All graduate voters would cast votes on the 14th of March, the election day.

The winning candidate would be the representatives for all graduates in the upper house of the state Legislature.

According to the announcement of the Election Commission of India (ECI) Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduate constituencies would get their representative.

As many as 179 candidates have filed nominations for Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar seat and 78 candidates for Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency. 

The two Teacher’s MLC posts are important, as the winning graduate MLC would cover 75 of the 119 assemblies.
