N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) on the 4th of December, submitted his resignation.

According to sources, Mr. Reddy resigned from his position after the Indian National Congress (INC) faced a debacle in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

Mr. Reddy took the responsibility of the defeat and made a way for the new Chairman of the TPCC.

The name of Malkajgiri Parliamentarian A. Revanth Reddy has been making rounds as the new President.

However, an official announcement is yet to be made. In addition, the resignation of Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy has not been accepted yet by the TPCC.

As per so far GHMC result trends, the INC managed to win only two seats out of 150 GHMC divisions.

The results for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections for 132 divisions have been declared on the 4th of December.

As per the State Election Commission (SEC) the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won 53 seats.

In addition, the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won 42 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 35 seats and the Indian National Congress (INC) won 2 seats so far.

The final results are scheduled to be announced shortly as counting of votes is drawing to a close.

The counting of votes for the remaining seats of the GHMC divisions is still underway.
