The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is going to nominate S. Saidi Reddy, a member of the TRS, as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate from the Huzurnagar Assembly constituency.

On the 21st of September, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates of the Maharashtra Assembly and Haryana Assembly elections.

Along with Maharashtra and Haryana, bypolls will also be held for approximately 64 other Assembly seats across India.  Telangana’s Huzurnagar is one of these Assembly constituencies.

The decision to nominate S. Saidi Reddy was taken by K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.  The CM held discussions with officials of TRS ministers and other key leaders and decided to field Saidi Reddy again.

In 2018, S. Saidi Reddy contested the Telangana Assembly elections from the Huzurnagar constituency, but lost against Uttam Kumar Reddy, a member of the Indian National Congress (INC.)  In 2019, Uttam Kumar Reddy contested as the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate representing the INC from Nalgonda and won the seat, due to which, he had to resign as the MLA of Huzurnagar.

After the resignation of Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Huzurnagar Assembly seat fell vacant, following which, the constituency will conducts bypoll on the 21st of October.

The official notification regarding the Huzurnagar Assembly bypoll will be issued on the 23rd of September, whereas the last date to file the nominations is the 30th of September.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations is the 3rd of October.  The results of the Huzurnagar bypoll will be announced on the 24th of October.
