On the 14th of March, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) called for an urgent Cabinet meeting to discuss the Novel Coronavirus also known as COVID-19.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, called for the meeting after a second positive case of the Coronavirus was reported in Hyderabad.

The meeting is scheduled to be held on the evening of the 14th of March and discuss the preventive measures for the deadly disease.  In the afternoon, KCR also conducted a high level meeting with Etela Rajender, the Health Minister of Telangana and other officials of the Health Department.  

Mr. Rao also reviewed the precautionary measures  carried out in the State so far to reduce panic amongst the citizens of Telangana.

Mr. Rao in today’s Budget Session said, “Some States like Delhi and Karnataka have already initiated measures such as temporary shutdown of crowded places like cinema halls, malls and educational institutions to contain the spread of the virus.  A Cabinet meeting is being convened this evening to finalise a course of action in this regard.”

He further added, “If any suspected cases are found, they are being immediately quarantined.  We have already prepared isolated locations like Dulapally Forest Academy and Haritha Resorts at Vikarabad among others to keep the suspected cases, while we established isolated wards in several government and private hospitals to treat positive cases of the virus.”

Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka, announced temporary shut down till the 31st of March, 22nd of March and 30th of March respectively.  Public places like gym, shopping malls, theatres, educational institutions are closed.

The United States of America also declared national emergency in regards to the Coronavirus, which killed 5,000 people and infected 1,38,000 people till date.

The Telangana Cabinet meeting is scheduled to be held at 6:00 P.M., at Telangana Bhavan, today.
