The Indian National Congress (INC) leader Mr. Hanumantha Rao, asked the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to introduce the Dalit Bandhu like scheme to all the minorities and other castes in Telangana.

On the 6th of November, Mr. Hanumantha Rao addressed the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Hyderabad and raised his concerns regarding the Dalit Bandhu scheme.  As of now, the Dalit Bandhu scheme is only benefiting Dalits of Telangana.  In addition, as of now the scheme is limited and implemented only in Huzurabad, Vasalamarri and four mandals.

Under the announced Dalit Bandhu scheme, the financial benefits would empower Dalits in Telangana.  The Dalit Bandhu Scheme (Dalit Empowerment Program) would provide financial assistance to Dalit families.  The Chandrashekar Rao Government would provide Rs. 10 lakh financial assistance directly to the bank accounts of Dalit beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Dalit Empowerment Programme.  The eligible families selected as beneficiaries from 119 Assembly constituencies would receive the money to make them financially stable and self sufficient.

The INC leader highlighted the timing of the Dalit Bandhu scheme, which was during the Huzurabad by election.  Mr. Hanumantha Rao said, Mr.  K.Chandrashekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, introduced the scheme and said, in order to appease the Dalits and started the Dalit Bandhu scheme as a pilot project in the poll bound Huzarabad.  To avoid criticism, the TRS Government extended it to four mandals, the KCR adopted Vasalamarri village and Huzurabad Assembly constituency.

Mr. Hanumantha Rao said that the State Government should hold consultations with the opposition parties regarding the implementation of welfare programmes and fulfil its promises made during the elections.  He claimed that the public no longer believes in the promises made during the elections.

The INC leader asked the TRS Government to soon hold an all party meeting regarding the implementation of promises made during the elections at the Pragathi Bhavan.

The TRS is yet to respond to the remarks of the INC leader Mr. Hanumantha Rao.
