On the 9th of February, Wednesday, the TRS activists held protests across the former Karimnagar district.

Aside from organising bike rallies with black banners, effigies of Modi were also burned and slogans against the Prime Minister were raised. All the activists and cadres were demanding an apology for the remarks against the Telangana Statehood.

The protest occurred at several places in Karimnagar district and other places including Telangana Chowk, Rajanna Sircilla district, Yellareddypet, Godavarikhani and Dharmaram in Peddapalli District and Jagtial.

Protests were also held and the Prime Minister’s effigy was burned at Godavarikhani and Dharmaram in the Peddapalli district. Jagtial Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA,) Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and TRS workers staged a dharna (protest) outside the Collectorate’s office in Jagtial.

Earlier Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of Telangana, demanded an apology from Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.

Taking a dig at the comments of Mr. Narendra Modi during the parliament, KTR tweeted, “Utterly disgraceful of you Mr. Prime Minister repeatedly insulting the decades of spirited struggle & sacrifices of the people of #Telangana. I strongly condemn the absurd comments of PM & demand that he apologise to the people of Telangana.” He further said, “TRS party leaders and activists are going to take part in a protest against PM Narendra Modi’s remarks on Telangana in Parliament.”
