TRS Candidates Lead In Graduate MLC Elections In Telangana

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidates are leading in all the two Graduate MLC constituencies.

The TRS candidate Palla Rajeshwar Reddy won the Graduate Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections.

After several rounds of counting, on the 19th of March, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy took a clear lead from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda. He gained a total of 1,10,840 votes, which is in his favour.

Mr. Rajeshwar Reddy is leading over an independent candidate Teenmaar Mallanna with 27,550 votes. Mr. Mallanna secured 83,290 votes at the end of counting first preference votes.

After Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Teenmaar Mallanna, Prof. Kodandaram, who contested from his party Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) is at the third position in lead with 70,072 votes.

As many as 3,87,969 votes were polled in the constituency, of which 21,636 votes were invalidated in seven rounds of counting.

For Warangal Khammam Nalgonda, counting is ongoing at Telangana State Warehousing Corporation warehouse at Arjalabavi in Nalgonda.

Meanwhile, in the counting of votes polled in Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad that is underway at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium.

In both the constituencies, TRS candidates are in lead. While in Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy- Hyderabad, the former Prime Minister of India P.V. Narasimha Rao’s daughter Surabhi Vani Devi is leading with a meager 6,555 votes. On the second position, Mr. Ramachander Rao, the MLC candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading.

While Ms. Vani Devi secured 88,304 votes until now, Mr. Rao is close behind with 81,749 votes. In addition, Independent candidate and former MLC Prof. Nageshwar is in third place with 42,604 votes.

As many as 179 candidates have filed nominations for the Mahabubnagar Rangareddy Hyderabad seat and 78 candidates for Warangal Khammam Nalgonda constituency.

The two Teacher’s MLC posts are important, as the winning the graduate MLC would cover 75 of the 119 assemblies.

Counting for the Graduate MLC elections is still underway.
