TPCC President Supports Bandh Against SCCL Privatization, Criticizes BJP And TRSMr. A. Revanth Reddy, the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) supported the bandh called by traders in Telangana.

He said, the Indian National Congress (INC) will support the 72 hour bandh by the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government.  The protest is being held in the view of a recent decision by the Central Government to privatize four coal blocks.  

Mr. A. Revanth Reddy asked the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to purchase 49% stakes held by the Center and stop the privatization of the SCCL.  In addition, the TPCC President asked the Central Government to clear Rs. 13,000 crore dues to the company.

Addressing the media on the 10th of December, Mr. Revanth Reddy kooda Mr. Revanth Reddy said, the TRS and Telangana Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao are equally responsible for the privatization decision.  He said, “If coal blocks are allocated to private companies, they might create artificial shortages so as to increase the prices of coal and power.  This will put a huge burden on people.  Further, the livelihood of nearly one lakh families, including 75,000 SCCL employees, will be at stake. The privatization will end the job opportunities and leave thousands of employees jobless.”

The privatization of the SCCL has now become a major issue in Telangana between the TRS (State Government) and the BJP (Central Government.)
