On the 19th of August, Friday, Mr. A. Revanth Reddy, the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress (TPCC) released ‘Mana Munugode – Mana Congress’ poster.

Taking to Twitter, Mr. A. Revanth Reddy shared the poster and announced his padayatra from the Munugode Assembly constituency, on the 20th of August.  Initially, the padayatra was scheduled to begin on the 13th of August, but Mr. A. Revanth Reddy contracted the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) following which the yatra was postponed.  The TPCC decided to kickstart the padayatra on the 20th of August, which is also the birth anniversary of the late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India and INC leader.  On the occasion of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary celebrations, the INC would hoist party flags in 176 villages of the Munugode Assembly constituency and would pay floral tributes to portraits of the late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi

It is to be noted, that the decision to select the Munugode Assembly constituency for the padayatra was in view of the upcoming by-election.  After the resignation of the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, the Munugode Assembly seat fell vacant, paving way for a by-election in Telangana.

Notably, Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy submitted his resignation to the Indian National Congress (INC) and is scheduled to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

Meanwhile, to be launched on the 20th of August, Saturday, during the padayatra, Mr. A. Revanth Reddy would cover five mandals by organizing three padayatras on different routes.

On the other hand, besides the TPCC, the opposition parties like the BJP and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) are also scheduled to address a public meeting in the Munugode Assembly constituency.

Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana and from the BJP Mr. Amit Shah would address public meetings at Munugode on the 20th of August and the 21st of August, respectively.
