On the 16th of September, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, took to Twitter to share that Telangana is the fourth largest contributor to India’s economy.

The tweet, posted by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Minister read, “Happy & proud that the Latest RBI report says #Telangana is the 4th largest contributor to India’s economy 👍

Under the leadership of Hon’ble CM KCR Garu,Telangana state continues to punch above its weight💪

Ranks 12th in population & 11th geographically, 4th in nation building.”

On the 15th of September, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released ‘Handbook of Statistics on the Indian Economy 2020-21.’ According to the released handbook, Telangana added Rs. 8,10,503 Net State Value Added (NSVA) in the fiscal year 2020-2021.

With this, the State stood at the fourth position in contributing to the Indian Economy. The other three states ahead of Telangana are; Tamil Nadu (Rs. 15,44,935 crores,) Karnataka (Rs. 13,40,350 crores) and West Bengal (Rs.11,04,866 crores,) respectively.

In addition to the NSVA, Telangana stood at the fourth position in the per capita net state domestic product. In the 2020-2021 fiscal year, the per capita net state domestic product is Rs. 2,37,632.
