Supporters of the suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member and the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Goshamahal T. Raja Singh, observed a bandh in the constituency.

On the 3rd of September, the supporters observed a bandh in Goshamahal constituency, Hyderabad, against the arrest of Mr. T. Raja Singh.  The protest call was given by the Sriram Yuva Sena to protest against the arrest of MLA Raja Singh in August. 

In regard to the bandh, fuel stations, liquor shops, hotels and commercial establishments were remained closed in the constituency on Saturday.  The markets at Begum Bazaar, Siddiamber Bazaar, Afzalgung, Muqtargunj, Osman Shahi Road, Troop Bazaar, Darussalam road, Shahinayathgunj and surroundings were also closed. 

Furthermore, to avoid any untoward incident and violent clashes, the police pickets have been deployed at all the senstive places and major junctions.  Patrolling is intensified and senior officers are monitoring the situation. 

It is to be noted, Mr. T. Raja Singh was detained by the Hyderabad Police under the PD Act, on the 25th of August.  He is currently lodged at the Central Prison at Cherlapally after a controversial video allegedly with derogatory statements against Prophet Mohammed.
