For the second consecutive day, Telangana recorded less than 1,500 new cases of the Wuhan virus also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

Since the past few weeks, the daily cases of the COVID-19 infections have reduced in the State. According to the health bulletin released to the media, on the night of the 17th of June, the State reported 1,492 new cases, 13 deaths and 1,933 recovered/discharged cases.

The cases were reported after the Telangana Medical Department conducted as many as 1,19,464 sample tests for the Wuhan virus infection, taking the cumulative total to more than 1.71 crores samples.

With this, Telangana has 6,09,417 positive cases, of which 19,521 are active cases, 5,86,362 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,534 are deceased cases.

It is to be noted, of all the 33 districts, the regions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 166 new cases, followed by Khammam (129) and Nalgonda (115.)

The major downfall in the active cases was due to the imposed lockdown in Telangana till the 20th of June. The State reported a dip in the daily cases with better recovery of 96.21 % from the Wuhan virus.

Meanwhile, with several special vaccination drives for COVID-19, the State administered vaccine doses to nearly 88 lakh people.
