The Telangana Police geared up for the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, and started working in full swing.

According to sources, the State Police directed officials to clear the election related offenses and cases booked in 2018 Assembly elections and pending at different levels.  In addition, the top police officials came up with proposals for the peaceful conduct of the Assembly elections in alliance with the Model Code of Conduct, which would be in effect from the announcement of the election dates.

It is to be noted, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the dates for the assembly elections in the five states, including Telangana.

Ahead of the ECI announcement, the Telangana Police held a meeting and asked officials to be more vigilant and alert with the raids, and other matters registered with the police.  Cash seizure, assault on rival party leaders and workers, booth capturing, misuse of official machinery, promoting enmity between the groups, castes and religion, corruption by election officials etc are being probed and a report has been asked soon.

The discussions were held during a meeting on the 22nd of May, Monday, at the police headquarters in Hyderabad.
