The Telangana Police, on the 14th of August, arrested M. Kodandaram, the President of the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS.)

According to sources, Kodandaram was allegedly protesting against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for allowing uranium mining in the Nallamala region.

The Police also arrested Chikkudu Vamshi and Kodanda Reddy, leaders of the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Kodandaram criticised the Telangana Police and the Government of Telangana and said they are being unconstitutional and going against the freedom of expression.

In support of his statement, he said as per Article 19, they have the right to freedom of expression.  He said it is unfair the Telangana Police arrested them while they were conducting a peaceful protest.

The members of the TJS and the INC are in police custody now.
