After reporting below 200 cases of the Wuhan virus, Telangana reported a massive jump in the single day COVID-19 cases.

On the 4th of January, Tuesday, the Telangana Health Department confirmed 1,052 new COVID-19 cases, the highest since the past few months.

With the new cases, the active cases tally of Telangana increased to 4,858 and overall cases stood at 6,84,023. In addition, 240 people recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 6,75,132. The death toll due to the Wuhan virus also stood at 4,033, till date.

Besides 1,052 COVID-19 cases, the Telugu State reported 10 new cases of Omicron, the new variant of COVID-19, taking the Omicron tally to 94 in Telangana. Of the total 94 Omicron cases, 37 people recovered, leaving only 48 people for treatment. All the Omicron cases are being treated at the Telangana Institute of Medical Science (TIMS.)

Meanwhile, the Telangana Health Department asked people to be cautious as the Omicron strain and COVID-19 cases are rising rapidly.
