In view of New Year celebrations, the Telangana Government approved the clubs and pubs to serve liquor till 1:00 A.M.
On the 28th of December, Wednesday, the Telangana Excise Department issued an order and gave permission to all the clubs and pubs in the State to open and serve liquor till 1:00 A.M. The permission came as good news to all those who would be looking for booze on the New Year Eve, on the 31st of December, Saturday.
In addition to clubs and pubs, liquor stores and wine shops are also allowed to stay open till midnight, confirmed a memo issued by Mr. Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana.
In a memo signed by Mr. Somesh Kumar, the Revenue Department said that “after careful consideration of the matter,” permission was being accorded to the Director, Prohibition and Excise, Hyderabad. However, permission has been given to those who have 2B (Bars), C1 (In-house), EP1 (Event permit) and TD1(In-house) licensees of Tourism Development Corporation.
In addition, those with A4 licenses (Retail shops) can remain open up to midnight on December 31, subject to observance of COVID-19 safety protocol.
