The election of the Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council will be held at 11 am on Monday, the 14th of March.  A notification to this effect was issued by the Assembly Secretary Mr. V. Narasimha Charyulu on Saturday, the 12th of March.

The Nominations for the same should be filed before the Secretary between 10.30 am and 5 pm on Sunday, the 13th of March.

After the term of the then Chairman Mr. Gutha Sukhender Reddy expired in June last year, Mr. V. Bhoopal Reddy was appointed as the Protem Chairman. AIMIM MLC Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri took over as the new Protem Chairman after Mr. Bhoopal Reddy’s term expired in January this year.

The Telangana Chief Minister and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao is expected to announce the name of the party candidate for the Chairman’s post soon. The ruling Telangana Government, the TRS has absolute majority with 34 of the 40-member council including six nominated members in the legislative council.
