On the 21st of July, K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development and Information Technology (IT,) Electronics and Communication Minister of Telangana, launched IT Tower in Karimnagar. 

Mr. Rao toured Karimnagar amid the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 and participated in various inauguration and launch events. 

Despite the pandemic Novel Coronavirus situation, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is working towards the development of the State. 

Besides the IT tower, TRS Minister KTR also Minister KTR inaugurated the Main Balancing Reservoir at Satavahana University for daily water supply at a cost of Rs. 110 crore. This will enable the Karimnagar Corporation to receive purified fresh water every day.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister KTR said that he was happy to participate in the program, providing fresh water in Karimnagar. 

The IT tower in Karimnagar inaugurated by Mr. Rao was built on 83,000 square feet.  The State Government released Rs. 34 crores for the construction of the Karimnagar IT tower.  The foundation of the IT tower was laid on the 8th of January in 2018 and the tower is finally ready for companies. 

Initially, the IT tower was scheduled to be inaugurated in February 2020.  However, due to the Municipal elections and then the Novel Coronavirus, the State Government postponed the inaugural. 

The IT tower launched would give employment to many local youths. It would be the first IT tower in Telangana with 30 ro 40 % employees’ occupancy rate. 

Approximately 400 employees will work at the time of inauguration and later 3,000 to 3,600 youths wod get employment.

Nearly 80 % of the jobs will be filled with candidates from Karimnagar and neighbouring districts. 

Speaking about the companies, about 26 companies approached the administration to set up their units in the IT Tower.  Of them, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been proceeded with nearly 12 companies and space was allocated to 15 companies.  

A district official said, “Out of 72,000 square feet area including 12,000 square feet cellar space, 60,000 square feet  area has been utilized for office purposes.  There is a learning centre in the ground floor and office on the first floor.  Space for IT firms is allocated from the second floor to fifth floor. Two office spaces are kept empty for multinational companies such as HCL and one another. “

Spaces have been allocated to firms with a condition to enhance employment in the coming one year period. 

With this, Karimnagar would also be an IT hub in Telangana after Hyderabad.
