For the past two days, the State of Telangana witnessed heavy rainfall, after the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon.

Several parts of Hyderabad and other districts in the Telugu State have been issued a Yellow alert by the India Meteorological Department (IMD.)  The National Weather Forecast Department predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in almost all districts for the next two days, the 19th and the 20th of June.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the 17th of June,  Kerameri from Komaram Bheem Asifabad recorded the highest rainfall at 73.2 mm followed by Kohir from Sangareddy at 62.2 mm.  In addition, some parts of Hyderabad like Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Ameerpet, Yousufguda, Somajiguda, and SR Nagar have also recorded moderate showers.

Notably, with a delay of one week, the southwest monsoon entered the Telugu State on the 14th of June, bringing rainfall to Telangana.  

While some areas received moderate rainfall, many isolated regions of the Telugu State witnessed heavy to very heavy rainfall in the past few days and are likely to continue further.
