Eatala Rajender, the Health Minister of Telangana, on the 17th of August, visited rain affected areas in Huzurabad. 

During the visit, Mr. Rajender reviewed the situation and damage happened due to excess rain in the State. 

Rajendar visited several areas near Manakondur and Edulagatepalli tanks and Gangaram, Elbaka, Challur and Valbapur of Veenavanka mandal. 

Other areas toured by Mr. Rajender are Uppal, Kamalaur, Shambunipalli, Vangapalli of Kamalapur mandal, Nayani tank in Jammikunta, Malyala bridge, and Ellanthakunta

Speaking on the occasion, Rajender said North Telangana districts such as Karimnagar, Warangal and some areas in Khammam and Adilabad received heavy rainfall this year. 

He said, all tanks, ponds and rivulets were overflowing due to heavy rainfall since Saturday, the 15th of August. 

Several road connectivity to some villages was affected due to breaches to roads and water were also logged. 

He said it was very rare that heavy rains were received in a very short time. 

District Collector K.Shashanka and officials of agriculture, irrigation and revenue departments were assessing the crops damage, breach of tanks and damage to houses.

The State Government would extend full assistance to affected people. As an immediate measure, food has been supplied to needy people. The Government even asked for the help of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district to rescue 14 farmers. The farmers were stuck in floodwater in Kundanpally village when they were in their fields to pump out excess water.

In regard to the situation, the senior officials concerned with the current flood like situation are prepared with two  helicopters.

They will be utilised to rescue people stranded in the floodwater.

Along with a helicopter owned by the state, a chopper from the military was also kept ready for such use.

Meanwhile, IMD  officials said districts like Mulugu, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Jayashankar-Bhupalpally received rainfall of two months in just two days.

IMD also forecasted extremely heavy rainfall for a few days in Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Mancherial districts. 

Meanwhile, the Telangana Chief Secretary urged the district collectors to set up a round the clock control room in their districts.

Mr. Somesh Kumar also organised a State control room (040-23450624) which has been operationalised immediately.
