Concerned about the rising number of violations and irregularities by private hospitals in Telangana, the State Health Department took serious measures.

On the 12th of October, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) seized 165 private hospitals and imposed fine on 106 hospitals for violating health norms.  In addition, the TRS Government also issued notices to 1,163 hospitals in Telangana. District medical and health department officials inspected as many as 3,810 private hospitals, diagnostic centres, labs and clinics across the State.

They found large scale irregularities at private hospitals and also ordered the district officials to submit a report to the State Health Department.

It should be noted here that most of the seized hospitals are in the Nagarkurnool district. There are 54 private hospitals in this district, of which 41 were seized.  In addition, 17 hospitals in Nalgonda, 16 in Sanga Reddy, 15 in Kothagudem, 10 each in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy were seized by the TRS Government. Moreover, notices were served to 274 private hospitals in Hyderabad, 124 hospitals in Karimnagar and 107 in Ranga Reddy.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Health Department also said, they would soon conduct another inspection drive to find out violations and irregularities being held at private hospitals and would take action.
