The Telangana Health Department is going to vaccinate as many as 1.6 crore front line warriors of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. 

Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, the Director of Public Health in Telangana, said the State Government identified front line workers from four departments, who would be vaccinated. 

Nearly 80 lakh people were identified from departments including sanitation, health, medical and police. 

The Health Department would administer the doses from the next week of January 2021.   Mr. Rao said, the selected individual would be given two doses in a gap of 21 days. 

The vaccine once given would work for 9 to 12 months. 

Dr. Srinivas Rao said the COVID-19 vaccine would be given free of cost.

 He further stated that they are also planning to give a vaccine to people suffering from chronic ailments and are in serious condition. 

Meanwhile, till date, Telangana has 2,75,261 positive cases, of which 7,661 are active cases, 2,66,120 recovered/discharged cases and 1,480 deceased cases.
