In a major setback to the Telangana Government, the Telangana High Court suspended Governor Order (GO) Rt. No. 402 related to the transfer of government teachers.

On the 12th of April, Tuesday, the Telangana HC reviewed a bunch of petitions filed by second-grade teachers from Jayashankar Bhupalapall, demanding suspension of the GO 402.

After reviewing the matter and hearing the arguments of advocates Mr. N.S. Arjun Kumar and Mr. M. Ramgopal Rao, Justice B. Vijayasen Reddy passed an interim order.  He said that the G.O. is against the new presidential order brought after the formation of new districts, which allows the mutual transfer of teachers within the erstwhile region.  However, the petitioner objected to the removal of the condition of seniority.  Previously, a person transferred from one local cadre to another local cadre was assigned the same rank, as mandated under the presidential orders.  However, the new GO 402, removed that condition, affecting seniority claims at the new place.

Putting a stay on the order, the Telangana High Court asked the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government to file a reply by the 20th of June and adjourned the matter.
