The Telangana High Court, on the 11th of March, Friday, reviewed the petition, filed against the suspension of three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs.)

During the hearing, the HC bench refused to put a stay on the suspension of the MLAs, from the entire 2022-2023 Telangana Budget Session, which commenced from the 7th of March.

Notably, after being suspended by the Telangana Assembly Speaker, the three BJP MLAs Mr. Eatala Rajender, Mr. T. Raja Singh and Mr. Raghunandan Rao filed a petition in the Telangana HC. The MLAs argued that their suspension was against the rules of the Legislative Assembly and the Constitution.

Meanwhile, Advocate General Mr. B.S. Prasad submitted a report on behalf of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Assembly Speaker Mr. Pocharam Srinivad Reddy.  The advocate general requested the court not to intervene in the legislative affairs.  After hearing arguments from both sides, the court issued another notice to the Legislature Secretary directing him to file a counter for a full-fledged hearing.

Later, the HC judge Justice Shameen Akhtar on the 10th of March, reserved the order and announced the dismissal of the plea, a day after.

Notably, the three BJP MLAs were suspended after the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs passed a resolution, demanding their suspension, for interrupting the ongoing suspension.  Acting upon the passed resolution, the Telangana Assembly Speaker, on the 7th of March, the first day of the budget session, announced the suspension of the three BJP MLAs for the business budget session 2022-2023.
