On the 1st of October, Telangana High Court (HC) issued a stay order on the demolition of the existing Secretariat buildings in Telangana.

The Court passed an interim order staying the demolition by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, ordered the demolition of the existing Secretariat buildings to construct a new complex for the State administration.  However, a few opposition party leaders objected to the decision and filed a petition in the High Court against the TRS.

On the 1st of October, the High Court asked the Government to stop the demolition of the old Secretariat buildings until further orders.

The HC also asked the Government to submit a report regarding the construction of the new Secretariat.

The State Government planned to demolish the old buildings in the Secretariat after Dussehra.  However, with the orders of the HC, the TRS Government cannot go ahead with the plan.

The HC is expected to hear the petitions after the Dussehra vacation.

Stay tuned for further updates.
