On the 30th of July, The Telangana High Court reviewed a petition filed against the Commissioner of Police of Karimnagar.

Notably, a citizen of Karimnagar P. Shiva filed a plea seeking protection from the illegal arrest by the Karimnagar Police in a civil dispute.  The police were allegedly trying to settle a monetary dispute.  The petitioner claimed that the police were trying to settle a monetary dispute between the petitioner and others, which was a civil issue and did not warrant the interference of the police.

During the hearing, the Telangana HC single bench comprising Justice Lalitha Kanneganti directed the Commissioner of Police Karimnagar not to interfere with any civil disputes of the citizens.  Furthermore,  Maccha Shiva Kumar, the Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP,) who was present in the court was directed not to interfere in any civil disputes. 

The Telangana High Court said it was not the duty of the police to interfere with disputes of a civil nature.  They were directed to follow the due process of law.
