Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced to shut of schools and educational institutions, amid heavy rainfall in the State.

On the 13th of July,  the Telangana Education Department, as per the directions of the Telangana Government, issued a circular, declaring the closure of schools and educational institutions till the 18th of July,

All schools and educational institutions would remain shut till the 18th of July, Monday, due to heavy rains across the State.  The decision was taken Considering the rain forecast of heavy rainfall in the State for the next three days and the heavy rains and floods continuing in many parts of Telangana.  On the 13th of July, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao chaired a meeting with the Telangana Education Minister Ms. P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and other officials of the Telangana Education Minister.  The further declaration of holidays is an extension to the ongoing closure of schools and educational institutions. The meeting was held on the afternoon of the 13th of July, at the Pragati Bhavan, Hyderabad.

Notably, on the 10th of July, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government, declared a three day holiday for all the educational institutions in the State, amid rain.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao also ordered the deployment of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF,) the State DRF and other rescue teams, as well as helicopters, for rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert for heavy rainfall to many Indian states, including Telangana.
