The K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government announced Rs. 10 lakh compensation, whereas a Telangana Minister announced Rs. 20 lahks for the Warangal medical student, who died by suicide.

On the night of the 26th of February, Sunday, Dr. D. Preethi, who allegedly committed suicide, died while undergoing treatment at the Nizam Institute Of Medical Science (NIMS,) Hyderabad.

On the 23rd of February, a first year medical student D. Preethi, studying at Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) Warangal, committed suicide, by injecting herself with succinylcholine, which is used to relax muscles and nerves.  However, if a healthy person takes the injection, it could cause severe health issues.  She took the extreme step after being allegedly harassed by a senior S.A. Saif.   The police investigated the matter and said, the ragging started with a remark on a WhatsApp group, and continued for a couple of days, following which Preethi took the extreme step.

After the demise, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government announced Rs. 10 lakh for the kin of the girl and Mr. E. Dayakar Rao, the Panchayat Raj Minister also promised Rs. 20 lakhs to the victim’s family.  The father of Preethi, Mr. D. Narendra said the Minister also assured them that a government job in the Panchayat Raj Department.  Mr. Dayakar Rao also reportedly assured the family that the case would be investigated by a sitting judge. 

Leaders of some opposition parties and students groups tried to stop the ambulance carrying the body to Gandhi Hospital.
