Mr. T. Harish Rao, the Finance Minister and the Health Minister of Telangana, recently said, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government plans to spend Rs. 10,000 crores for the health care sector.

During an inauguration of 100 bed intensive care unit at Niloufer Hospital, Mr. T. Harish Rao said, “State government will spend Rs 10,000 crore to improve public health services.”  He said, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana is aiming to provide the best public healthcare system at an estimated cost of Rs. 10,000 crores.  This was the first programme attended by Harish Rao after taking over the medical and health portfolio three days ago.

It is to be noted, recently, Mr. T. Harish, who was the Finance Minister of Telangana was given the portfolio of Health Ministry.  With this, Mr. T. Harish Rao is managing the Finance Ministry and the Health Ministry of the Telugu State.

Speaking about the plans of the TRS Government, Mr. T. Harish Rao said, the State Government is proposing to construct four medical towers in four directions in Hyderabad.  This would provide the best healthcare facilities to the poor.  In addition, the Government would also establish a medical college in every district.  As of now there are 21 medical colleges in Telangana. Of the total 21 colleges, 16 medical colleges were constructed under the leadership of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao.   In addition, now the State Government is also planning to establish 9 more government hospitals, which would be functional from 2022.

In regard to enhancing the healthcare sector of Telangana, the TRS also constituted a committee.  The sub committee is comprising of State ministers like Mr. Jagadeeshwar Reddy, Mr. Srinivas Yadav, Mr. VemulaPrashanth Reddy, Mr. Srinivas Goud, Ms. Sabita Indra Reddy and Mr. Satyavathi Rathod as members.  They would tour Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, where better medical treatment is provided and would make a report.  Based on the recommendations made in the submitted report, the TRS Government would plan and work for the better public healthcare sector.
