With the announcement of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) 10th exam cancellation, the Telangana Government also took a decision over State Board examination.
On the 15th of April, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government cancelled class 10th or School of Secondary Certificate (SSC) examination and postponed class 12th or Intermediate examination.
Due to the rising number of the Novel Coronavirus, the Telangana Government followed the steps of the Central Government and decided to cancel and postpone examination. The decision was taken by K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, during a meeting. The meeting was attended by the Special Chief Secretary of Education Chitra Ramachandran, the Commissioner and Secretary of Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) Syed Omer Jaleel and the Director of Government Examinations (DGE) A.Satyanarayana Reddy. The officials even submitted a detailed report of the proposal for the 10th and the 12th examination.
After the meeting, Chitra Ramchandran issued an official notification, which read, “Considering the present pandemic situation prevailing in the state and also keeping in view of the CBSE notification, Government hereby cancel all 10th class exams to be held from 17th May, 2021.”
In addition, the results of class 10 would be based on objective criteria to be developed by the SSC Board. Anyone who is not satisfied with the allotted marks would be allowed to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive.
Meanwhile, for the Intermediate 1st Year examination, all Intermediate first year students would be promoted without exams. However, students willing to give exams would be allowed to sit whenever it would take place in future dates. For Intermediate second year students, the exams have been postponed until further notice. The new update about intermediate 2nd year exams would be given after a review in the first week of June and future dates will be announced with at least 15 days notice for the exams.
Meanwhile, with an everyday spike of close to 3,000 cases, total cases crossed 34 lakhs and active cases crossed 30,000 cases in Telangana.
