Telangana Ministers and government officials gave an emotional final farewell to Forest Range Officer (FRO) Ch. Srinivasa Rao, in Khammam. 

The final rites were conducted on the 23rd of November, Wednesday, with full state honours at Erlapudi village of Raghunathapalem Mandal in the district.  Notably, on the 22nd of November, Tuesday, the Khammam FRO Mr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao was killed by Gutti Koya tribals in a violent attack at the Errabodu plantation area of the Bendalapadu gram panchayat.  According to sources, the tribals were cutting down trees in the Khammam forest and when stopped, the tribals attacked resulting in Mr. Srinivasa Rao’s death,

In today’s final rites, Mr. A. Indrakaran Reddy, the Telangana Forest Minister, Mr. Puvvada Ajay Kumar, the Telangana Transport Minister, Khammam Member of Parliament (MP) Mr. Vaddiraju Ravichandra, the Telangana Government Whip Mr. Rega Kantha Rao, Khammam TRS district president, Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Mr. Tata Madhusudhan and others attended the final rites.

Meanwhile, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana and others expressed condolences.  In addition, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Government announced an ex gratia of Rs. 50 lakhs to the family of FRO Ch. Srinivasa Rao.  The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government also announced to offer a government job to the kin of Mr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao.

Moreover, the State Government also assured strict punishment for the culprits who allegedly killed FRO Ch. Srinivasa Rao.  The State Government has taken the incident very seriously and the accused would be punished severely.

The State Government further clarified that there was no trouble with the local tribals, but the migrant tribals were cutting down the forests indiscriminately.  

Meanwhile, the Telangana Police who launched an investigation into the matter arrested a few tribals and started a probe.
