Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) announced the ‘Cheyutha’ scheme for the women in Telangana.
On the 2nd of July, Sunday, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who was on a visit to Khammam district, Telangana, and announced the scheme. Under the Cheyutha’ Scheme, if in power, the Indian National Congress (INC) promised to offer a monthly pension of Rs. 4,000 to elderly individuals, single women, widows, and the differently-abled.
The announcement was made during a public meeting in Khammam as part of the party’s efforts to gain support ahead of the upcoming elections in the state. Emphasizing the significance of the scheme, Mr. Rahul Gandhi hailed it as a historic initiative that would ensure financial security for the intended beneficiaries.
Speaking at the public meeting, Mr. Rahul Gandhi said, “We are introducing a groundbreaking scheme called Cheyutha. This scheme will provide a monthly pension of Rs. 4,000 to women and senior citizens in Telangana. Additionally, we promise to allocate Podu land to adivasis.”
The major poll freebies was announced ahead of the 2023 Telangana elections, for which the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in the fray.
