After reporting single day cases of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) below 500, the State of Telangana is continuously witnessing a spike in the cases.

On Friday evening, the 8th of July, Telangana reported 608 new cases with 459 recoveries and 0 deaths.  On Friday, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updated about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.  The new cases were confirmed after conducting 28,055 COVID-19 tests of samples in the past 24 hours. 

With this, Telangana now has 5,146 active cases,  7,95,880, are recovered/discharged cases and 4,111 are deceased.  

According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Rangareddy, Warangal and Karimnagar.  The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (329) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Rangareddy (67) and Medchal Malkajgiri with 54 cases.  

In addition, the recovery rate of Telangana improved to 98.85%.
