Telangana Congress Leader Maheshwar Reddy Resigns

In a major setback to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) Mr. Alleti Maheshwar Reddy announced his resignation.

Mr. Alleti, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) programmes implementation committee chairman, resigned from the party, on the 13th of April, Thursday.

After resignation, Mr. Maheshwar Reddy addressed the media and said he had sent his resignation to the Congress leadership.  Although there is no specific clarity behind his resignation, Mr. Maheshwar Reddy said he decided to quit Congress with a deep sense of hurt. 

Later, Mr. Alleti Maheshwar Reddy visited the residence of Mr. Tarun Chug, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) In Charge in Telangana.  The former Congress leader was accompanied by Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Chief of BJP in Telangana.  Although Mr. Maheshwar Reddy termed the meeting as a “courtesy,” speculation is that he would join the BJP soon.

However, an official announcement regarding the future course of action by Mr. Maheshwar Reddy would be made on the 26th of April.
