In view of the heavy rainfall in Telangana, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced a holiday for educational institutions and offices.

In an order, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao directed Ms. Santhi Kumari, the Chief Secretary of the Telugu State, issued an official order, announcing a two day holiday for the institutions.  As per the issued orders, educational institutions and government offices would remain shut on the 21st and the 22nd of July, in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.  However, emergency services like healthcare and milk supply would continue functioning uninterrupted.

Furthermore, the State Chief Minister directed the Labour Ministry to ensure that private educational institutes and offices within the GHMC limits remain shut for the next two days.

Notably, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Hyderabad Weather Department has issued a rain alert.  As per their forecast, the GHMC limit would and other regions of Telangana would witness heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours.  The concerned officials of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government urged people to avoid venturing out and stay indoors, if not for any emergency.
