Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding a “National Policy for Food Grains Procurement”.

On Wednesday, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, “I am constrained to remind you that there is no uniform national-level food grains procurement policy.”  The letter further read, “”There should not be different policies of the Union government for different states within the country.”

Highlighting the difference between Indian states, the Telangana Chief Minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government procures an entire marketable surplus of paddy and wheat in states like Punjab and Haryana, it is not doing the same in Telangana.  The letter addressed to the Prime Minister of India, came amid the ongoing issue over paddy procurement.

Taking a dig at the Indian Government, KCR said, “Inconsistent and uncertain policies of the Indian government are causing a high degree of frustration and dissatisfaction among the farmers.”

He also highlighted the issue between farmers and the Union Government, especially since the BJP Government had proposed three anti farm laws. He said that the Indian farmers are expressing their fury against the PM Modi led Union Government.  Mentioning the struggle of the Telangana farmers, CM KCR asked PM Narendra Modi to direct the Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution to procure as promised 100% paddy.

Furthermore, the Telangana CM Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao also decided to send a delegation of ministers to Delhi to meet the Union ministers and even the Prime Minister to demand the buying of paddy.
