Kamatham Ram Reddy, a senior leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) passed away on the 5th of December.

According to sources, Mr. Reddy, 83 years old was suffering from prolonged age related illness and took his last breath at his residence in Hyderabad.

Kamatham Ram Reddy passed away in the early hours of the 5th of December.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, expressed grief over Kamatham Ram Reddy’s demise. 

Mr. Rao recalled Kamatham Reddy’s association with the TRS and paid tribute to the senior TRS leader.

Highlighting the political career of Kamatham Reddy, who started as an independent politician in 1967. In 1967 he contested as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Parigi constituency and won.

In 1972 and 1989 once again he won as MLA from the Parigi constituency as a MLA of the Indian National Congress.

After the INC, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014.

Later in 2018, Mr. Reddy joined the TRS, but he was away from active politics due to his age related health issues.

Mr. Reddy also served as the Chief Whip in 1968, Minister of Civil Supplies in the Jalagam Vengala Rao’s Cabinet in 1977, Minister of Marketing and Warehousing in the cabinet of Nedumali Janardhan Reddy in 1991 and Minister of Revenue in the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Cabinet in 1992.

Besides KCR several leaders of the TRS mourned the sudden demise of Kamatham Ram Reddy.

The last rites of Kamatham Ram Reddy are scheduled to be held on the evening of the 5th of December in Mahabubnagar district of Hyderabad, Telangana.
