With the preparation of the upcoming Huzurabad Assembly by election, the war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) intensified.

On the 3rd of October, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the BJP in Telangana and the Member of Parliament (MP) of Karimnagar made a challenge to the TRS. Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar dared Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, to quit if the TRS loses the upcoming Huzurabad by election. He said, “Rajender is a staunch supporter of Telangana and fought hard for statehood. But chief minister KCR did nothing. TRS dismissed Rajender after using him. Will CM resign if BJP wins?”

During a BJP Party meeting, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar challenged Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao to quit as the State CM. He asked the party cadres to be ready for the upcoming Huzurabad by election, which is no less than a battle for the BJP. Leaders of the BJP like Mr. Eatala Rajender, Mr. Jitender Reddy, Mr. N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, Mr. Kuna Srisailam Goud, Mr. Revuri Prakash Reddy, Mr. G. Premender Reddy, Mr. Mantri Srinivasulu, Mr. Kartika Reddy and other BJP leaders attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised the TRS Government regarding the Dalit Bandhu Scheme. He said, the BJP is not against the implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme, under which the TRS is distributing Rs. 10 lakhs to each Dalit beneficiary. Instead, the BJP is demanding a similar scheme for the Scheduled Caste and Dalits of the entire state. He criticised the KCR Government for gaining votes of Dalits by giving them money to win the Huzurabad by election.

However, the Telangana Unit BJP President expressed trust towards the people of Huzurabad and said, the people would take the money and would vote for the BJP, showing the power of democracy to the TRS. He said, “People of Huzurabad are very intelligent that they would collect money from TRS and vote for BJP candidate Eatala Rajender to protect democracy.”

It is to be noted, after the resignation of Mr. Eatala Rajender as the Huzurabad MLA and the TRS member, the Huzurabad Assembly seat fell vacant. With the political tension between Mr. Eatala Rajender and the TRS President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Huzurabad by election is said to be a serious battle between the BJP and the TRS. Since Mr. Eatala Rajender joined the BJP and is expected to contest the Huzurabad by election on a BJP ticket, the victory of the BJP and the TRS is 50-50.

Both the parties are trying to get the attention of voters and gain the maximum number of votes for their respective MLA candidates.

While Mr. Gellu Srinivas Yadav is the TRS candidate, who would contest against Mr. Eatala Rajender, the expected MLA candidate of the BJP. Although Mr. Eatala Rajender is the final MLA candidate representing the BJP in the Huzurabad by poll, an official announcement is awaited.

In addition, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) are also expected to be in the fray for the MLA post.

The by election for the vacant post of the Huzurabad Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) would be held on the 30th of October. The counting of the votes would be held on the 2nd of November, following which results would be announced.
