After the arrest of Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President of Telangana unit, tension prevailed in the Telugu State.  Condemning the arrest of Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar and 150 cadres, the Union BJP leaders criticised the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government and Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao.

On the 2nd of January, Sunday, the Telangana Police arrested Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who was staging  a protest against the TRS and CM KCR.  He hold protest against the recent Government Order (GO) 317, which issues specific guidelines on employees transfer. 

Raising voice against the GO 317, BJP unit in Telangana staged “Jaagran Deeksha” in Karimnagar.  However, due to permission issues, they were detained by the Karimnagar Police.  The police said the protest was carried out without any permission, amid the Wuhan virus (COVID-19) restrictions.  Therefore, they arrested the protesting BJP leaders. 

Union Ministers and BJP leaders took to Twitter and condemned the arrest.  Mr. G. Kishan Reddy strongly condemned the arrest and said, “The suppression of protests and opposition voices continues under the autocratic rule of KCR.”

Mr. Tarun Chugh, a BJP leader said, “Brutal and Inhuman arrest and physical assault on Telangana state bjp chief Bandi Sanjay.”

Mr. Amit Malviya, the BJP Information Technology (IT) department in charge, said, “Telangana police manhandled BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar because he was leading a protest in solidarity and support of government teachers and employees, who are demanding revocation of GO 317.  Several BJP workers, including women, have been arrested.  TRS is losing it.”

The TRS Government and leaders are yet to respond to the criticism.
