A 44 years old paralysed man who died recently after testing positive for COVID-19, in Hyderabad, is still a mystery to solve for the Telangana Health Department.

While the State Government denied community transmission of the virus, this case is a shocking question whether the State entered the 3rd Stage of the Novel Coronavirus.

The 44 years old  paralysed and bedridden man, who lived with his family in Musheerabad, Hyderabad had no travel history, no contact with anyone positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection, his family members were tested negative of COVID-19.  However, he was tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus. The Health Department is conducting all the possible tests and ways through his blood samples and DNA in order to get an idea from where he contacted the virus.

It has been two weeks since the man died, but the Health department is still trying to figure out the traces from where he got the virus.  The case created panic amongst the citizens of Hyderabad because many areas in the City have been identified as containment clusters for the spread of the virus.  The man was a resident of Musheerabad, one of the hotspots for the spread of COVID-19 and was undergoing treatment at Osmania Hospital. He was on his way to Gandhi Hospital, after testing positive for COVID-19, when he died.

Fourteen medical staff, which includes nurses, doctors, lab attendants and ward boys who attended the patient, self isolated themselves despite testing negative for the Novel Coronavirus.

Nagender, the Superintendent of Osmania Hospital said, “Frankly, we don’t know how exactly he may have contracted it.  It’s tough to identify at this point, considering we are not totally aware of the behavior of the virus.”

Similarly, a police official during his lockdown duty tested positive for the Coronavirus.   The traces of the virus spread is still a question, as the family members and close people of the police tested negative.

Such cases are now becoming a matter of concern and raising questions of community transmission in the state.

However, the Telangana Government is assuring the citizens and denied the situation of community transmission in the State.

Meanwhile, on the 16th of April, the State witnessed a hike of 50 fresh cases of the Novel Coronavirus, taking the total cases to 700.

As on the 17th of April, Telangana has 700 positive cases, 495 are active cases, 187 recovered and 18 deaths.

Stay tuned for further updates.
