In Telangana’s Warangal district, a 8 year old boy died due to cardiac, on the 6th of September, Tuesday.

According to sources, the boy identified as Nihan was undergoing treatment at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Warangal.  He was given anesthesia, due to which he got a cardiac arrest and died on Tuesday.  Nihan, the youngest son of Bhukya Shiva and Lalitha of Lingya Thanda of Warangal district, had broken his right hand in an accident on the 4th of September, and was taken to MGM Hospital.  As per doctors, he was supposed to have surgery on the 6th of September, and while giving the anaesthesia doses, the doctors found out that the boy suffered cardiac arrest.  They rushed him to the ICU ward and tried to give him artificial breathing, but he died.

After the demise of Nihan, his parents and relatives staged a protest in the hospital, demanding action against the doctors.  They expressed anger about not giving any information for about three hours.  They even tried to attack doctors and police prevented them.

In addition, the MGM Hospital Superintendent Dr. Chandrashekar said that a three-member committee with senior doctors was formed to probe the reasons of the boy’s death.

Director of Medical Education Dr. Ramesh Reddy also intervened and asked the MGM officials to submit a report on the incident soon.

The matter is under investigation.
