In Hyderabad, the father of a four year old girl demanded ‘Sajjanar like justice,’ for his daughter, who was sexually abused by her school principal’s driver. 

What is the matter?

Recently, a four year old girl revealed sexual abuse on her by the car driver of the DAV Public School Principal at Banjara Hills.  She further said the sexual assault was happening to her for the past two months and the accused was threatened her with dire consequences if the victim speak about it to anyone.  The accused identified as Rajani Kumar, who worked as a driver for the principal allegedly misbehaved with many female students, as he had access to enter school premises and used to come to school frequently.  Rajini, who was a full time driver of the DAV School Principal, used to do odd jobs of the school including maintenance of laboratories, where he was said to have assaulted the victim multiple times.

The matter came to light after the four year old victim informed them about the sexual assault to her parents, who later approached DAV School and thrashed the accused.  Soon the Banjara Hills Police department officials rushed to the spot and took Rajini into custody and registered a case under the relevant section.

On the 19th of October, the victim’s father staged a protest in front of the Banjara Hills Police Station, asking for a death sentence or encounter for the accused.  The victim’s father cited the 2019 Disha Rape Case and how the accused in the gang rape case were killed in an encounter by the then Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Mr. V.C. Sajjanar.

The victim’s father further said that if he had the support of other parents whose kids study at the DAV Public School, where the sexual assault happened, he is ready to walk to the chief minister’s camp office until justice is served.  

The four year old victim’s parents said, “We will accept no deviations in the case.  The Principal of the school also has to be held accountable.  Until our demands are met, I will go on a hunger strike.”

Rajini has been arrested by the Hyderabad Police and has been booked under sections 364, 376 (a)(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Child from Sexual Offence (POCSO) act.

Meanwhile, after the incident got attention, many parents gathered and supported the victim’s parents, demanding justice and strict action against the school administration and the accused.  Kasam Bhaskar, a parent of a student at DAV school addressed the media and said, “The principal has to have known what was happening.  There are allegations of other children suffering also.  The management was silenced, she’s not taking responsibility either.”

Besides parents, the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members also joined the protest and demanded action against the DAV School Principal, who is currently placed under judicial remand. 

Meanwhile, the victim was sent to a Bharosa centre for counselling, where she revealed how the accused took advantage of her.  Furthermore, the protest outside the Banjara Hills Police Station is still underway.
