Revuri Prakash Reddy, a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) on the 4th of September, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) in Delhi.

Revuri Prakash joined the Party in the presence of J.P. Nadda, the Working President of the BJP, during an event in Delhi.

Reddy’s move of joining the BJP is said to be a major drawback for the TDP, which is already struggling to gain power in Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana.

With the loss of a senior leader, it is difficult for the TDP to win the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zila Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections in Telangana.

Muralidhar Rao, the General Secretary of the BJP in Telangana, said the opposition leaders are joining the BJP due to its growth in the State against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)

Apart from Revuri Prakash Reddy, Ravindra Naik, a former Member of Parliament (MP) of the Indian National Congress (INC,) also joined the BJP.

G. Kishan Reddy, the Home Minister of Telangana of the BJP and K. Laxman, the President of the BJP in Telangana, were also present at the event.
