Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 21st of August, took to Twitter and expressed grief over the Srisailam Hydroelectricity power plant fire incident. 

Mr. Modi in a tweet said, “Fire at the Srisailam hydroelectric plant is deeply unfortunate. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope those injured recover at the earliest.”

On the night of the 20th of August a massive fire broke out in an electricity panel of Srisailam Left Bank Power Station (SLBP.)

As many as 30 people were inside the tunnel, of which 15 escaped through exits and 6 were rescued by the rescue team.

Nine were feared trapped inside and were declared dead on the evening of the 21st of August.

All the nine bodies were recovered, of which three were identified as assistant engineers, Sundar Naik, Mohan Kumar and Fathima.

Meanwhile, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, expressed shock over the incident and ordered a comprehensive enquiry.

The enquiry would be carried out by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) headed by Govind Singh, CID’s Additional Director of police. Mr. Singh has been asked to investigate the cause of the accident and submit a report regarding the same as soon as possible.

The investigation has been started.
