The Southwest Monsoon entered the Telugu State of Telangana, on the 14th of June.  This year, the monsoon came late by five days, as it was scheduled to enter Telugu State on the 5th of June, which was later predicted to arrive on the 8th of June.  Finally, the monsoon entered the State on the 13th of June.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD,) the monsoon has advanced into some parts of Telangana including regions of Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar.  It is likely to advance further in the next 48 hours in other districts of the State.

The IMD has forecast rains in parts of the state over next four days. Few districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall to light rain with thunders are to occur at many places over Telangana. 

Furthermore, the IMD also issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ (be alert) to districts including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Rajanna-Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Suryapet, Warangal, Jangaon, Siddipet and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri.
