In the violent protest at Secunderabad Railway Station, a person identified as Damodar, lost his life.

According to sources, on the 17th of June, Friday, the National Students Union Of India (NSUI) and army aspirants of Telangana staged a protest demanding withdrawal of the recently launched “Agnipath” army recruitment scheme.  The protestors looted shops, set ablaze train bogies, vandalized railway properties and started stone pelting.

To control the situation, the Secunderabad Railway Police opened fire, which resulted in killing of one person and left three people severely injured.  Prior to open firing, the police allegedly used lathi-charge and warned the protesting mob to disburse.

Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, condemned the protest and killing.  He took to Twitter and said, “The violent protests against #AgniveerScheme is an eye-opener & acute indicator of the magnitude of unemployment crisis in the country.
