Mr. Ramakrishna Rao would be appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Telangana.  He would  succeed Mr. Somesh Kumar, the outgoing CS of Telangana, who has been ordered to report to Andhra Pradesh.

Although Mr. Somesh Kumar opposed the orders issued by the Government of India, the orders of the Telangana High Court left no choice for Mr. Somesh Kumar, but to either opt for voluntary retirement or report to the Andhra Pradesh Administration.  Recently, the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India issued an order and relived Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer Mr. Somesh Kumar from the duties of the CS of Telangana, directing him to report to Andhra Pradesh Cadre from Thursday, the 12th of January.

Opposing the orders, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Hyderabad issued stay on the allotment of senior IAS officers and CS transfer, but the Telangana High Court (HC) quashed the orders.  On the 10th of January, Tuesday, the HC quashed the order of the CAT and left the State Government with no option but to appoint Mr. Somesh Kumar’s successor.

As of now, Mr. Ramakrishna Rao is likely to be appointed as the Chief Secretary of Telangana, after the approval and support of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.

However, an official announcement regarding the new CS of Telangana is yet to be made.
