In the massive fire incident at Srisailam hydroelectric  Power plant, nine trapped were declared dead by the State Government.

The nine employees of the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation who were trapped inside the tunnel where the fire broke out were dead. Officials conducting the rescue operation confirmed the report.

On the night of the 20th of August a massive fire broke out in an electricity panel of Srisailam Left Bank Power Station (SLBP.)

Of the nine bodies recovered, three were identified as assistant engineers, Sundar Naik, Mohan Kumar and Fathima.

K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, expressed shock over the incident and ordered a comprehensive enquiry.

The enquiry would be carried out by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) headed by Govind Singh, CID’s Additional Director of police. Mr. Singh has been asked to investigate the cause of the accident and submit a report regarding the same as soon as possible.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on behalf of CM KCR, expressed grief over the demise of the people trapped and said, “All the efforts were made to rescue the trapped engineers and bring them out alive, but in vain.”

The SLBP is situated on the Srisailam reservoir on the Krishna river, a joint irrigation project between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
