Starting in the wee hours of the 22nd of September, Thursday, the massive raid was to crack down on terror related activities in India.  During the pan India raid, the NIA arrested approximately 100 state and district level leaders of the Popular Front of India (PFI.)

In what is being touted as the “largest ever investigation to date”, the anti terror task force raided the premises of those allegedly involved in terror funding, organising training camps and radicalising people to join proscribed organisations.  The NIA officials confirmed raids in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and other states like Assam, Tamil Nadu and others.

A NIA official, who wished to be anonymous said, “The raids are taking place at the homes of national, state and local leaders of PFI.  The state committee office is also being raided.”

Moreover, earlier this month, the NIA conducted a similar kind of searches at 38 locations in Telangana and at two locations in Andhra Pradesh in the terror related activities.

As of now, the multi location raids are underway.
